Spot the Error

Although Renee was upstanding in every way, there was a playful, mischievious side to her, too, as evidenced by her penchant for pranks.

The word mischievous is misspelled in the “pranks” sentence above. Because mischievous is frequently mispronounced as mis-CHEE-vee-uhs, it tends to get misspelled with an “i” after the “v.” The proper pronunciation, however, is MIS-chuh-vuhs (no “i” after “v”).

Fortunately, your spell checker would (I hope) catch the spelling error. Unfortunately, there is no checker (yet) for mispronunciations. You’ve been warned.
